Retargeting
Also called: Remarketing
Retargeting is showing ads to people who have already visited a website, viewed a listing, or engaged with a social post, in order to bring them back to take the next step such as booking a test drive.
Retargeting in dealership marketing
Vehicle purchases involve weeks of research, so most first visits to a dealership website do not produce an enquiry. Retargeting keeps the dealership and the specific model in front of that buyer while they compare options elsewhere.
On Meta it runs through the Pixel and custom audiences; on Google through remarketing lists. The sequence matters: a buyer who viewed a listing should see that vehicle and an offer, not a generic brand ad.
