Local pack
Also called: Map pack, 3-pack
The local pack is the block of three business listings with a map that Google shows at the top of results for searches with local intent, and appearing in it is the main objective of local SEO for a dealership.
Local pack in dealership marketing
Google fills the pack based on relevance to the query, distance from the searcher, and prominence, which is driven largely by reviews, citations, and profile activity. A dealership can rank in the pack for one neighbourhood and be invisible two kilometres away.
Because there are only three positions, the pack is effectively a competitive ranking against named local rivals, which is why tracking should be done against specific competitors and locations rather than as a single citywide number.
