Lead qualification
Lead qualification is the process of checking whether an enquiry is worth a salesperson's time by confirming intent, budget, location, and timeline before it is worked as a sales opportunity.
Lead qualification in dealership marketing
For a dealership, a two-minute qualification call answers four questions: is this person buying or just researching, is the budget realistic for the model they named, can this outlet actually serve their location, and roughly when do they expect to decide. Anything less is a contact record, not a lead.
Qualification can happen before the lead reaches the dealer, as with verified buyer leads, or on the sales floor through a first-response script. Either way, the output should be a clear priority so hot enquiries are called first.

Speed to lead is the time between a buyer submitting an enquiry and the dealership's first meaningful response, measured in minutes rather than hours because buyers in competitive markets are usually talking to several showrooms at once.
